yoma komatsu

recently single-celled m.u.g.e.n. superstar baby bonnie hood came under a lot of fire for coding/sprite theft in his character lilith. being that this wasn't even close to the first incident of bbh's sticky-fingered m.u.g.e.n. style, his latest character yoma komatsu instantly fell under some close scrutiny and surprise, surprise, bbh AGAIN took coding without any semblance of permission. seeing that his laughable "well, why should i waste time coding if someone else has already done that!" argument isn't working anymore, bbh is critisizing people on focusing on how he steals coding for his shitty characters and not the shitty characters themselves. well, here you go:

the graphics are probably the first thing you'll notice about yoma komatsu. while it's commendable to attempt to make a character from scratch, when the results are ugly ms paint abortions with severely stilted animations it's probably better that you didn't make a character at all. adding to yoma's super-underwhelming aesthetics is the fact that she has no voice to speak of, and her sound set is comprised entirely of seemingly random guitar samples and the default m.u.g.e.n. noises.

unfortunately for mankind, the soul-sucking blandness of the character isn't exclusive to her sprites and sounds. her normal attacks are what you figure they'd be: punch, kick, swing guitar, yawn. but her special attacks... oh her special attacks. tell me this true-believers, how would you feel about an attack where SHE SHOOTS OUT A NON-DESCRIPT FLAT COLORED BAR?! in what is quite possibly the stupidest idea for an attack ever, yoma shoots out one of the colored bars from guitar freaks at her foes. it looks dumb, and it feels awkward. yoma's only other current special attack is one where she strums her guitar and is encircled for a moment by a sound blast, circle blade, or whatever, who cares. it's boring, typical cookie-cutter fighting game shit. if you were going to take a character from a non-fighting game, you think you'd try to implement some clever gameplay aspects of the original game. but instead, bbh has just taken a character and slapped on the guilty gear style without attempting to make anything original or creative.

the best that can be said of this character is that it's not bad. or at least, it's badness isn't immediately noticable. there could exist tons of cheap combos and broken stuff and whatever, but chances are this character won't hold your interest long enough to search for them. bbh can't be credited with making a solid creation, though. the best that can be said of him is that he's able to take other people's coding and arrange it into a manageable character.

Pros and Cons
+ this character is so painfully dull you won't be playing her for long
- sprites/sounds/moves are boring, uninspired crap

Overall Score: 11
not much worse than what it would've gotten even if he hadn't stolen anything
