So here we have 2 CVS Vega's. Two completely different takes on the same character. You'd think that one of these two completely different version would be somewhat accurate to the game they are from. Well, you're in for a suprise.
First, I'll start with the good things. Both are Vega's. Both use the spanking fresh CVS sprites. Both....uh. Okay, comparing the good qualities isn't easy, since these characters are anything but similiar. Gargoyles' Vega is almost true to CVS. Most of the anims have accurate timings. The damage values, for the most part, are accurate. The lack of edited sprites for the middle puches/kicks doesn't have any effect on the gameplay, despite what some may think. Vega uses the default CVS effects for the basic attacks, Psycho Crusher, and hitsparks. Instead of the normal F, D, DF, Px2 teleport, Gargoyle turned the run into the teleport. This is alright, but doesn't give Vega the range he normally has.
Next, Koga's M. Bison. To be honest, there are few, if any, redeeming qualities about this attempt at Vega. The timings on most attacks are way off, it has mis-aligned sprites in the Psycho Crusher, and the edited sprites aren't even that good looking. There's nothing more to say on the "good" things about it.
Like I explained earlier, Gargoyles' Vega does have issues with incorrect timings, as does Koga's. Both versions of Vega have
problems with the Head Stomp and Devil Reverse. Koga's M. Bison has sluggish controls. To be honest, M. Bison plays like a poorly made Zangief.
Well, that's basically it. Neither one of these Vegas "stand-out". In the end, it's up to the original creators to fix these problems. Gargoyles' Vega seems like a rush job. It's just not as good as his other CVS characters, ie Evil ryu. Koga's M. Bison has many of the same problems that his Sagat had way back when. In the end, it's not the graphics that make the character, but the amount of effort actually put into creating and testing them.
