Rag Rappy

download: some stupid site.

Before I review this character, I would like to state that I've NEVER downloaded and/or tried any of Mature4evr's characters prior to this one. With that said, let's begin.

When I first heard about Mature4evr releasing a PSO character, I was like, "Wow. A PSO character in MUGEN. This should be interesting." I expected to see something like a FOmarl or a HUcast, y'know, the NORMAL characters that you usually play as in Phantasy Star Online. What we get instead is a Rag Ruppy, the weakest and most stupid enemy in the entire fucking game.

The only good thing in this character is the sound, which was ripped from PSO itself. Of course, Mature4evr didn't even rip most of the sounds himself, according to his readme.

Bad things in this character? Where will I start... It only has ONE normal attack - a normal attack that doesn't even hit the fucking opponent thanks to Mature4evr's inability to change the ground.front and ground.back variables. In fact, he neglected to change ALL of the size variables to fit Rag Ruppy's small size. Smart move, dumbass.

Aside from it's one attack, Rag Ruppy does have a few special attacks. Actually, he only has two, not counting the strikers, but I'll get back to them in a bit. One of the specials has Rag Ruppy use a Monomate, PSO's version of a healing item. The command for this move is a little awkward - maybe because it's a charge move that's mapped to the fucking START button. For reasons unknown, Mature4evr decided to not have this move use button combinations like X+Y+Z or Z+C.

In addition to this, Rag Ruppy can summon other PSO enemies like the Savage Wolf and Poison Lily. Sounds good, right? Wrong. When you summon Mothmant or Savage Wolf, Ruppy is unable to move until they leave the screen, whereas when you summon Poison Lily and Dimenion, he can move after they were summoned. In addition to this, you can't summon another Mothmant or Wolf until they leave the screen, but you can summon as many Poison Lilies and Dimenion as you want. (Want an easy infinite? (corner) Down, down + A (repeat)). Can we please be consistent, Mature? Also, Dimenion doesn't do anything. He just sits there with his arms in the air and grunting. I don't know, I guess he's supposed to scare the player into pressing Escape or something. In addition to this, you can't HIT any of the strikers to prevent them from hitting you with an attack. Why? Because Mature decided to not give them CLSN2s and custom hit states. Way to go, Mature!

Ruppy's two supers are complete shit and pretty much worthless since he lacks the ability to combo. There's no point in me mentioning anything about them.

This character has a couple of bugs, like the lack of a crouching state and a few require actions. The least you could do is add these in so my debug screen isn't filled with errors, Mature. Overall, Rag Ruppy sucks. A lot. In fact, it tarnishes the name of Phantasy Star Online. Don't bother with this piece of human feces.

Pros and Cons
+ Hand drawn sprites
+ It's a PSO character!
- It's the worst PSO character in the damn game.
- Lack of normals and the inability to combo
- Hovers above the ground thanks to misaligned sprites.
- Easy infinite combo
- Incoherent button layout and move commands
- Strikers lack a CLSN2 and custom hitstate
- Mature4evr is STILL a horrible coder.

Overall Score: 10
Do yourself a favor, Mature4evr. QUIT MUGEN~! (again)
