Jorge H Campos has recently released a beta of his revamped, original version of NGPC Yuri, complete with stupid fanfiction story that anyone in their right mind will ignore. The biggest thing of note about this characters is that Jorge took the time to redraw and massively re-shade Yuri's sprites, making for a much more solid looking character. Most of the animations he has actually re-drawn look quite good, however, the same can't be said for the rest of the character.
Let's start with the first thing you'll see - her standing animation. She hops during it, and she screams annoyingly EVERY TIME she hops. This WILL drive you fucking nuts, and I don't see a good reason for it to be there. The rest of the sounds are also pretty much completely unremarkable - they're just slightly higher pitched versions of Yuri's usual stock phrases. Yawn.
Next, we have moving around. KD Yuri has some huge bugs that simply cannot be ignored. For one thing, she can walk through other characters. This makes trying to throw her even harded than it already is. Also, in my experience, I've only ever been able to hop up or backward, never forward. I have no idea WHY this is the case, but it is. I'm amazed this slipped past Jorge - maybe it's just a Linux Mugen bug. Then again, probably not.
Yuri also does NOT slide when hit. Therefore, pretty much any move quick enough (like KFM's ducking light kick) becomes an easy infinite against her. oh, and she can't be hit while falling in the air, unlike every other character on the planet. This is just silly. As is her Raiohken, which takes no juggle points. With a little practice with the timing, you can infinitely juggle a cornered opponent with the X version. And let's not forget her throw, which the opponent can be killed by any hit of, thus making it look really stupid. kill = 0 was added to hitdefs for a REASON, jorge.
Most of the stupid bugs continue on and on like this. Even if this is a preview release, it needs MAJOR work before it can be considered even remotely finished. Every part of the character feels rushed and sloppy. Jorge, if I were you, I'd go back to the drawing board and try again.
Oh, before I forget:
Dear lord.
