How do you take the single most awesome character in Samurai Shodown and make him even better? I'm not sure and, apparently, neither is Star Platinum. At this point, I would like to point out my extreme hatred of having to write out Star Platinum every time I have to mention him, so for the rest of the review he shall be referred to as Princess. Now, Princess must have either been drunk, stoned, or just be plain stupid to have thought that this character was in any way, shape, or form, enjoyable.
The most notable problem with this character is, aside from the fact that Princess made it and continues to make other equally worthless characters, is the lack of 2-in-1's. Like GCNMario before him, Princess has decided that going with standard combos was either too conformist, or not comformist enough, and therefore was better left out of this character. Even though the practice of adding basic combos was started when Elecbyte released a little something called Kung Fu Man shortly after releasing something called Mugen.
Another noteworthy feature is the lack of any form of CLSNs on the back dash. I'm sure there is a logical reason why these were left out. In fact, I can narrow it down to one of three options :
- Princess was too busy planning the next character he'd completely ruin.
- Princess had a long night homework for his 3rd grade art class.
- Princess has absolutely no grasp of the basic standards for fighting game characters in Mugen.
