This is an ugly character. I'm not just saying this because I don't care for Cable. I'm saying this because this character
has the "honor" of being one of the first characters ripped from a Dreamcast game. No, there's not some secret emulator we
haven't told you about (or is there?) - it's ripped using a TV tuner card and video capture software. That makes for some
ugly ass sprites. Click on the pictures for an example. Don't mind me, I'll wait.
Back now? Good. I think you get my point. I should add here, I think, that most of the animations are low in frame count and
have varying levels of cleaning. It's not the worst I've ever seen, but it's close.
Sound rips are terrible too. I would have though MvC2 had some kind of sound test feature people could use to rip "clean" sounds,
but I suppose not. No biggie, but it's kinda annoying hearing the music for a moment when I do some moves... ;P
Onto the stuff that REALLY matters - the gameplay. Actually, he's not entirely terrible in this respect. CLSN boxes, while a
bit "over accurate," don't have any real errors that would ruin gameplay. Most moves are fairly well programmed, with the
exception of his dragon punch type move (How am I supposed to remember everyone's move names?) and the Hyper Viper Beam.
I've noticed that if you just let the straigh beam hit the opponent, it does normal level 1 super damage (300-400 damage),
but if you use the up or down directions to adjust the beam, the adjusted hits do MUCH less damage - more like 88 total.
That's less than a MP or MK usually. Tsk tsk.
I downloaded this character expecting something spectacuarly bad, and I ended up with something actually potentially worth
downloading. He's not terribly good, but not REALLY bad either, so I'll be nice and give him an average score.
