Question Answer
The resolution is messed up! How do I fix it? MUGEN: Open data/mugen.cfg in a text editor and search for GameWidth. You can modify the game's native width and height to run on your computer.

Ikemen GO: Open save/config.json in a text editor and search for GameWidth. You can modify properties GameWidth and GameHeight to run on your computer.
How do I apply patches? Unzip the patch into a patches directory in your demo folder, then navigate to the applyPatch.bat file and open it.

NOTE: Patches MUST be applied in sequential order after each major release.
What are the differences between MUGEN and Ikemen GO? MUGEN: Stage finishers supported in Mortal Kombat stages.

Ikemen GO: Mortal Kombat stages excluded due to no support for stage finishers. Support for character unlocks, online PvP, and Windows/Mac OS/Linux operating systems.
How do I play online? In Ikemen Go there are no dedicated servers, one player hosts and the other connects. Ikemen's netcode is your typical delay-based netcode. Because of how peer-to-peer netplay works (the engine only sends inputs and waits to the other player to receive them), both players essentially need the same game and configuration (all options from Game Settings and Engine Settings should not differ, e.g. speed, life, time etc. Video, Audio, and Input settings can be unique to each game since they don't affect gameplay). The host never has to enter anything in the IP window when attempting netplay; the peer, however, needs to enter the host's public IP. By default, simply doing that won't work, even with Ikemen Go being allowed through the firewall.

Host:
  • Setup port forwarding on port 7500. Doing so allows the peer to enter the host's public IP when connecting and all should be good. Be aware that the peer does not need to port forward, just the host.
  • Get your external IP address and share it with the peer that will be connecting.
  • Open Ikemen GO and go to NETWORK > HOST GAME. The screen will say "Waiting for player 2... (7500)". The peer can now connect.
Peer:
  • Open Ikemen GO and go to NETWORK > JOIN GAME > NEW ADDRESS.
  • Enter a name for the new address and press ENTER.
  • Enter the IP address the host provided and press ENTER. The address is now added.
  • Select the new address. The screen will say "Now connecting to (address name)... (IP Address)".
Once the host and peer are connected, the online PvP is successful.
Which file do I open to play in Ikemen GO?
  • Windows (32 bit): Ikemen_GO_x86.exe
  • Windows (64 bit): Ikemen_GO.exe
  • Mac OS: Ikemen_GO_MacOS
  • Linux: Ikemen_GO_Linux
When I open the Ikemen GO version I always see a black screen! How do I fix it? Open save/config.json in a text editor and search for MSAA. Change the value from true to false.
